It all started in 1973 when Glen Rubenbauer "Rube" opened a tavern in tiny Montour, Iowa. His philosophy was to provide generously-portioned, hand-cut premium steaks and allow guests the experience of grilling themselves over an indoor, open-hearth grill.
Word of Rube's quickly spread and people couldn't get enough of beefy, flavorful Rube's steaks. Soon, customers wanted to buy Rube's steaks to grill at home and give as gifts to friends and family. So in 1992 Rube's Meat Company opened, and began shipping fresh Rube's steaks nationwide. We are pleased to continue the rich tradition today of selecting only the finest corn-fed Black Angus beef, wet-aging for at least 28 days, and shipping them fresh from the heart of Iowa.
